with abuelita

My big girl and littlest with their abuelita.

This was the final week of Brook Snow's Natural Light class and it happened to fall on a really busy week so I was unable to complete the assignment using lighting tricks. Instead, here's a photo I took of my girls during our visit to grandma's house. I did use lighting techniques I learned from Brook's class. The only light is coming in from a window with the curtains partially drawn.  If you look closely you can see a reflection of the window on the lamp on the upper left. I knew this window light would give them nice catch lights in their eyes and because its hitting them at a slight angle there is still some nice definition on their faces.  The decision to edit in B&W was made to reduce the distractions from the cluttered background.

I'm so grateful for this class.  It's really given me the confidence to shoot in any lighting condition.  I can't believe it's over already!

Thank you so much to Brooke Snow and Sarah Grace Allred for all your guidance and wisdom.
